Bourne again?
The best indication that a school visit has gone well is when they say they’d like to invite you back. So, I’m very pleased to see the English teacher who organised my recent sessions with Year 7 and 9 students at Bourne Academy, in Lincolnshire, saying just that in the local newspaper down that way.
And I quote:
“Kate Dickens from the English department, who organised the visit with librarian Marilyn Roberts, said the visit was a huge success. She said: ‘It was fantastic for us all to meet a published author who gave us valuable insight into how fiction writers work. The students gained a huge amount from the day and we can’t wait to invite Martyn back.'”
Here’s a link to the full article about my visit, which includes the above photograph of me with some of the children at the school – including my nephew, Jed Devey, who’s in Year 7, and a regular in the school library. Definitely a snap for the family album!
