Flip’s big read
Came back from a couple of days away to find some good news lurking in my email inbox . . . Flip has been selected for The Big Sandwell Read.
This is a borough-wide reading promotion in Sandwell, West Midlands, in which 12 adult novels and 12 books for children and teenagers are selected to feature in a special campaign running in libraries across the area from February to June. At the end of June readers vote for a winner in each category.
As part of the promotion, the organisers have invited me to visit local libraries and schools to talk to groups of young people.
As well as being delighted to be selected, I’m especially chuffed – and somewhat daunted – to see my name alongside some of the true greats of contemporary children’s fiction – the other contenders are: Cathy Cassidy, Frank Cottrell Boyce, Roald Dahl, Julia Donaldson, Neil Gaiman, Anthony Horowitz, Jeff Kinney, Michael Morpurgo, Robert Muchamore, Andy Stanton and Jacqueline Wilson.
