Sent to Coventry

Wonderful to hear that Flip has been shortlisted for the 2013 Coventry Inspiration Young People’s Book Awards, one of the bigger and more prestigious of the regional prizes in the UK.

Flip is one of 12 novels in contention in the Read It Or Else! category, voted for by readers aged 11 to 14. The award, run by Coventry City Council, aims to promote and celebrate the enjoyment of reading among young people of all ages. “We think the shortlisted books are all quite simply great reads, designed to inspire reading for life!” as it says on the official website.

Every week from 21 January 2013 the two books with the fewest votes in the weekly poll for each category will be eliminated until a winner emerges. The winning titles will be announced on 20 February and the winning authors and publishers will be invited to an awards ceremony in Coventry’s medieval Guildhall on 12 June.
