Festival fever
I’m suffering (in a very pleasant way) from festival fever this week, with three litfest appearances in two days. On Monday afternoon (Oct 6th), I’m running a creative writing workshop for students at Morley Academy, near Leeds, as part of the Morley Literature Festival, then hotfooting it – or hot-training it – to the Ilkley Playhouse for an event at the Ilkley Literature Festival. At Ilkley, I’ll be sharing a stage with fellow YA writer Sarah Crossan – author of the brilliant The Weight of Water and Apple & Rain – where we’ll be reading from and discussing our work for teenage readers. The event – compered by Geraldine Woodhouse, an English teacher at Ilkley Grammar School and ILF board member – starts at 6.30pm.
(The last time I met her was at a parents’ evening to discuss my older daughter’s performance in English!) Then, on Tuesday, it’s back to Morley again – this time to run a writing workshop for adults at the town’s library. Should be a busy but highly enjoyable couple of days.
