The judge judged
This week I had the pleasure of awarding prizes to the winners and runners-up in a short-story competition I’d judged for the excellent and thriving Leeds Writers’ Circle. Of course, picking a few winners means casting all the other entrants into the realm of “losers”.
So, I hope I didn’t incur any bad karma along the way because, next week, I’ll be on the receiving end of hundreds of young judges when Flip is up against the other shortlisted titles in the Sheffield Children’s Book Awards.
Eek!
