Thumbs up for Flip
It’s always heartening to receive fan mail but I’m especially delighted with a message which reached me via the contact page of my website. It comes from a librarian at a secondary school and has put a real spring in my step at a time when I’m gearing up for what (I hope) will be the final rewrites of my next teen/YA novel, The Fallen One.
Anyway, here’s what she said:
Hi, I just wanted to let you know how much I enjoyed reading Flip. I
work as Literacy Lead at a high school and whilst restocking the
library your book was one of the recommended reads from a local
supplier. I was first drawn to the cover and once I began reading I
was hooked.
Your insight into teenagers is spot on without being patronising and
the storyline opens so many self awareness questions about how we
view ourselves. I absolutely loved the book and it will definitely be
on my ‘book of the week’ stand for the students to read.
Thank you for bringing an exciting and original piece of literature
into my school library!
